David Eide

May 23, 1953 — November 20, 2010

David Gene Eide, 57, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, November 20, 2010, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls. He was born on May 23, 1953 in Fargo, North Dakota to Leonard Gene and Ramona M. (Schloesser) Eide. Although born in Fargo, he moved with his family to San Diego, California, calling that home for the majority of his life. He also lived in Oregon, Chicago, Illinois, and in later years in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Dave worked in construction building homes and painting for 27 years. He was known far and wide for the quality and timeliness of his work. He later hung sheetrock for many years. His goal was to be an oceanographer until an accident left him disabled. He was an entrepreneur finding various creative ways to earn an income. Dave was creative, honest, and kind, making him much sought after when dealing with people. He enjoyed surfing, and played guitar in a band; he was very accomplished and it gave him great joy. His friends were like family, and he entertained every evening. Dave was very creative, making simple objects into beautiful sculptures, beading, and other works of art. He was in awe of the universe, and loved the ocean, mammals, and young children. Dave was honest, intelligent, kind, and loving, and an inspiration to all who knew him. He loved to travel, especially to Mexico and Hawaii, which created lifelong memories. He touched countless hearts and will never be forgotten by those close to him. Preceding him in death were his mother, Ramona Schloesser, and his father, George Eide. Survivors include two sisters, Laura, and Pamela, and many friends. A public memorial gathering will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday December 1, 2010 in the lobby of the River Inn., 133 S. Mill St., Fergus Falls. Interment will be in the Kongsberg Cemetery, Fergus Falls.   Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of arrangements.
