David Anderson

David Allen Anderson, 72, of Fergus Falls, unexpectedly passed away on February 28, 2025, after suffering a sudden stroke.

David was born on May 20, 1952, to Shirley (Olson) and Donald Anderson in Minneapolis, MN. He grew up in Bloomington, MN, and graduated from Lincoln High School. After high school, Dave began his surveying career with the City of Bloomington, where he continued to gain experience and further his education, eventually becoming a registered land surveyor.

On June 16, 1973, Dave married Karen (Rial) Peters, and together they had three children: Ryan, Sean and Stacey. They later divorced.

In 1979, Dave founded Anderson Land Surveying in Fergus Falls, where he built a legacy of over 46 years of dedication to his profession.

On December 7, 1999, Dave met the love of his life, LeJean Nicholson-Anderson on a blind date at Perkins. Their connection was immediate, and they were married on October 13, 2001, at First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Through Jeannie, Dave gained two stepsons, Nathaniel and Nicholas Schmidt.

Dave was a loving family man who cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially teaching the younger generation how to fish. In addition to his family, he enjoyed woodworking, cuddling with his dogs, and cheering for the Minnesota Vikings, Twins, and any team that included his grandchildren.

Dave is survived by his wife, Jeannie Nicholson-Anderson; children: Ryan (Dawn Bacon) Anderson, Nat (Becky) Schmidt, Sean (Annie) Anderson, Nick (Felecia) Schmidt, and Stacey (Steve) Swedal; grandchildren: Evan, Gabby and Max Anderson, Laura and Ellen Anderson, Clara and Eli Swedal, Bode and Haley Schmidt, and Harper and Indie Schmidt; and siblings: Susan McCloughan (Bob), Donny Anderson, and Debra Wagner (Curt), siblings-in-law: Darca Nicholson (Jonathan), Craig Nicholson (Kimberly), and Kit Nicholson (Pam), and many niece and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Shirley Anderson, his sister Gail (Bob) Weber, and his parents-in-law, Clarence Nicholson and Wanda Nicholson Bjornstad.

Visitation: 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Olson Funeral and Cremation in Fergus Falls with visitation resuming one-hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2025 at First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, MN.
