Daryl Dean Johnson

Daryl Dean Johnson, age 60, of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Sanford Health in Fargo.

Daryl was born on January 2, 1956, to J. Ellard and LaVonne (Rose) Johnson in Fergus Falls. He was baptized at Sverdrup Lutheran Church and confirmed at Tingvold Lutheran Church, both of Underwood. He graduated from Underwood High School in 1974, and then attended Moorhead Technical College for HVAC Training.
After completing school, Daryl worked in Bellfield, ND, then returned to Fergus Falls and began working at Knutson Heating in Fergus Falls, and then he was the long-time building inspector for the City of Fergus Falls, retiring in 2012.

On May 4, 1985, Daryl married Cheryl Richter at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. To this union a daughter, Jamie was born. On September 10, 2011, he married Cindy Boland at Messiah Lutheran Church of rural Underwood. He was a member of the Fergus Falls Lions, Fergus Falls Fire Department, involved in 4H and also a former Golden Gloves Boxer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing the lawn, tending to Christmas lights and blowing snow. He also enjoyed following the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins. He loved spending time at the lake with family, especially playing with the kids.

He was preceded in death by his brother, David Johnson in 2000.

Daryl is survived by his wife, Cindy Johnson of Fergus Falls; his daughter Jamie (Jamie) Schweigert of Fargo; triplet grandchildren, Abbott, Briggs and Legend Schweigert; his parents, Ellard and LaVonne Johnson of Underwood; a sister, Diane (Ross) Bjorkman of Underwood and their children, Carissa (David) Bosch and Bryce Bjorkman, and their grandson, Garrick Bosch; a sister, DaNell (Doug) Jamieson of Wilson, WI, and their children, Audrey Jamieson, John Jamieson and Corbin (Mallory) Jamieson, and their grandchildren, Owen and Akya; a brother, Delain (Jill) Johnson of Edmonds, WA, and their children Ella and Luke Johnson; and his nieces (David’s daughters), Jessica (Josh) Bernard and Jade Flauterly.
