Darrell Anderson, 84, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, March 07, 2014, at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Home.
He was born January 17, 1930, in Rothsay, the son of Alfred and Irene (Zimmerman) Anderson.
He grew up and attended Country School in Rural Rothsay. Throughout the years he was employed by Soby Construction, Andy’s 66 Station, the Wahpeton Sugar Beet Plant and worked with the Local 49ers. He enjoyed working in Northeastern Minnesota in road construction. He also owned and operated a tavern in Finland, Minnesota called “Our Place” for several years.
In October of 1951 he married Bonita Leine and later he married Jane Mohs in November of 1994.
Darrell was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4847 of St. Cloud and a member of First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. He enjoyed cooking, playing cards, watching game shows, taking road trips, polishing his vehicles, and listening to country music.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Dennis, Irvin, and Alden; sisters Adelore and Audrey, and his father-in-law, Robert Mohs.
Survivors include his wife, Jane of Fergus Falls; brothers, Russell Anderson of Fergus Falls, and Merle (Mavis) Anderson of Anoka; sisters, Avis Lindquist of Boulder, CO and Laverne (Neal) Morstad of Fergus Falls; a sister-in-law, Beverly Anderson of Fergus Falls; his children, Debra (Steven) Jorgenson of Rothsay, Daniel Anderson of Duluth, Sandra (Troy) Hassell of New Castle, Colorado, Sheri (Brent Johnson) Wilke of Dalton, Shelly (Jon) Schreiber of New Castle, Colorado, Darcy Anderson of Fergus Falls, and their mother, Bonita Anderson of Fergus Falls; grandchildren; Tammy, Kari, Kim, Tausha, Nicholas, Alicia, Karla, Eric, Ryan, Nicole, Tonya, Collin, and Lilly; 22 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Lorraine Mohs of St. Cloud, along with Jane’s 10 siblings.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home
Service: 1 pm Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Olson Funeral Home Chapel, Fergus Falls

Internment: 2 p.m. Thursday at Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery, Little Falls, MN
