Darrell Albertson

December 26, 1939 — November 3, 2023

Darrell Eugene Ivrin Albertson passed away on November 3, 2023 in Fargo, ND at the age of 83. He was surrounded by his wife, Patty, and three children.

Darrell was born to Myles (Gordon) and Irene Albertson on December 26, 1939, in Foxhome, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Vukku Lutheran Church, Doran, MN. He was raised on the farm on County Road 19 by Ottertail River. He attended the country school for grades 1–8 and Campbell High School, graduating in 1957. Darrell attended two years at the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND studying Accounting. He then went back to the farm to work with his dad until he moved to Fargo, ND and worked at St. Luke’s Hospital as a purchasing agent.

He met Alice Patricia (Patty) Creamer in Fargo while attending the First Lutheran Church young adults’ group. They were married on November 26, 1965. They moved to the Johnson farm near Doran, MN in 1968 and then they moved to the family farm near Foxhome in 1979. During these years, they raised their children, Denise, Darla and Darren. Darrell farmed for a few years and then was an accountant, dispatcher and truck driver for Fosse Trucking in Rothsay, MN. He also did personal income taxes for many people over the years. In 1987, they moved to Breckenridge and Darrell began trucking for TLP Trucking in Wahpeton, ND. They then moved to Fergus Falls in 1994 where they have lived for the last 29 years.

Darrell was hard-working and fun-loving. He enjoyed time with his family, fishing, camping, hunting, walking trails through the woods, playing games, having coffee with friends and visiting those who were home-bound.

Darrell had a deep love for his family and friends and he loved to tease and laugh. He could talk to people easily and loved to meet new people and hear their stories. He had the gift of visitation and letting people know they were seen and not alone.

Darrell loved Jesus and reading His Word. He would get excited about what God was teaching him and would share it with others. He loved attending Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.

Darrell was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Irene Albertson; sister, Phyllis Tweeton; brothers-in-law, Richard Tweeton and Art Dahlen; and granddaughter, Sophia Farrant.

He is survived by his wife, Patty Albertson; children, Denise (Bob) Catherwood, Darla (Jim) Farrant, and Darren (Hannah) Albertson; and grandchildren: Caleb, Sarah, Emily and Luke Catherwood; Abigail, Josiah and Daniel Farrant; and Lydia, Tabitha, Benjamin, Phoebe and Magdalene Albertson; and siblings, Virgil (Mary) Albertson, Donna Mae Dahlen, Merlyn (Ruth) Albertson, Janice (Chet Baker) Dold, and Rhonda Gasiorowski.
