Darol A. Anderson, 81, of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in Fergus Falls, with his family by his side.

Darol was born on August 19, 1932, in rural Fergus Falls, the son of Arthur M. and LaVella (Fjorde) Anderson.

Darol married Allegra (Iverson) on February 16, 1953, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, where they resided and raised their family. Darol was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls and was a lifetime member there.

Darol attended School District #46, graduating from Fergus Falls High School in 1949. Darol worked on the family farm until entering the Army in November 1953, where he was stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX. In 1955 they returned to Fergus Falls where Darol began working for Fergus Creamery, later becoming North Star Dairy. In the early ‘60s Darol began Anderson Dairy Service, which he operated until 1974, at which time he and Allegra purchased Otter Tail Glass Company, which they operated until their retirement in 1998.

Darol enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, water skiing, and any outdoor activities. Special time was spent with his loving and caring wife Allegra, his family, and friends at their Wall Lake cabin and later in their home on the river.

Darol was very active in: Fergus Falls Fish and Game Club, including co-chairing the annual Save the Wetlands Smelt Fry, and board member of the Fish and Game Club Foundation; Eagles Aerie #2339, having held several local offices in addition to the District President position; Elks Lodge #1093; Board of Directors of the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center; Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader.

Preceding him in death were his parents LaVella and Arthur, and step-mother Inga; in-laws, Les and Ann Iverson; brother Arland (Bud); sister Donna Lou; grandson Noah Moen; and hunting buddies Bud Lien, Harris Iverson and Bubbles.

Survivors include Allegra, his wife of 61 years; four children: Wayne, Red Rock, Texas; Kim Anderson-Moen (Greg Honrud), Fergus Falls; Pam (John) Fiske, Moorhead; Mark R. (Kimberly), Fergus Falls. Grandchildren: Christina, Shanna, Tasha, Sheila, Shane, Judd, Ethan, Bob, Chuck, Sherry, Mark, Jr. Siblings: Vonnie (Robert) Baker; Diane (Carl) Prischmann; Paul A. (Diane) Anderson; Sister-in-law Donna Anderson. Brother-in-laws Darrell (Mary) Iverson; Clair (Karen) Iverson, as well as 16 great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorials are preferred to Fergus Falls Fish and Game Club Foundation or Prairie Wetlands Learning Center.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2014 at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls
Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014 at First Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls

Interment: First Lutheran North Cemetery
