Darlene Naomi McRoberts, 81, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, August 27, 2017, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls under the care of LB Hospice.
She was born on April 20, 1936, in Eau Claire, WI, to George and Dorothy (Schupsky) Knowlton.
Darlene grew up in Eau Claire, WI, where she graduated from high school.
On September 19, 1953, she married Russel McRoberts in Eau Claire, WI. The couple resided in Ottumwa, IA, Milwaukee and Menomonie, WI and in St. Paul, MN. They moved to Fergus Falls in 1963 where her husband was co-owner of Our Own Hardware store where she helped when needed.
In their retirement they spent their winters in Mesa, AZ. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing, entertaining and dogs especially Bosley.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband in 2014, a daughter, Becky and her step-father Walter Schupsky.
Survivors include her daughter, Debi (Steve) McRoberts of West St. Paul, a son, Michael (Jami) McRoberts of rural Richville; two grandchildren Myria (James) Kirkpatrick and Riley McRoberts; three great-grandchildren Jackson, Bennett and Cameron; and an aunt, LaVonne Burich, whom Darlene considered as close as a sister.
