Darlene Marie Gihle, 60, wife of Jeffery Burmeister, and a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Lake Region Healthcare.
She was born on February 9, 1958 in Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Lucille Gihle.
Growing up in Illinois, she graduated from High School there. Her family then moved to Browerville, and later to Fergus Falls. Darlene was involved with the Productive Alternative work force, where she met her future husband.
On June 18, 2012, she married Jeffery Burmeister in Sisseton, SD. The couple has made their home in Fergus Falls since. While in Fergus Falls, she also worked at the Pizza Hut.
Her hobbies include fishing, watching baseball and football, games, cooking and baking. In addition, Darlene also enjoyed being a volunteer at the Minnesota Veterans Home and at the Salvation Army, enjoying her many meal time friends.
She attended the Hilltop Celebration Church and a Place to Belong.
Preceding her in death were her parents. Survivors include her husband, Jeffery Burmeister of Fergus Falls, and Brothers Geoff and Bob.
A Public Graveside Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Knollwood Memorial Gardens in Fergus Falls, with the Rev. Wes Gabel officiating.
Assistance is provided by the Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls.
