Dana Allen Nelson, 69, of Rothsay, died Sunday, September 24, 2017, at his home.
He was born June 26, 1948, in Barnesville, the son of Lloyd and Jacquelyn (Cranston) Nelson. He attended school at District 89 as well as Rothsay Elementary, graduating from Rothsay Public High School in 1967.
On September 12, 1969, he married Patricia Carlsrud at Hamar Lutheran Church in Rothsay. Throughout the years, Dana had worked in the construction field and had also been employed with Shirley’s Standard, Velo Turkey Farms, and Rothsay Seed Plant. He farmed from 1970-2017 and worked for LeRoy Anderson and later started his own heating and cooling business.
Dana was a member of New Life Church in Rothsay, enjoyed his farm work, watching TV, attending his sons and grandkids sporting events, auctions, and coffee and doughnuts at the Truck Stop. The last few years, he and Pat enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, John and Emma Nelson and Alice and Robert Cranston; parents, Lloyd and Jackie; an infant brother, John; and his father and mother-in-law, Ernest and Ruth Carlsrud.
Survivors include his wife Pat; children, Chad (Heather) Nelson of Rothsay, Scott (Carol) Nelson of Rothsay and Kelly (Crystal) Nelson of Fargo; grandchildren, Emerson and Connor Nelson, Jordan and Jacob Nehk, Olivia Nelson and Hunter and Jaden Thoreson; a brother Orlander “Ole” (Karen) Nelson of Erhard; a sister Audrey (Wally) Wifall of Pelican Rapids, along with numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m, September 28, 2017, at New Life Lutheran Parish, Rothsay, MN
Service: 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 29, 2017, at New Life Lutheran Parish, Rothsay, MN
