Dale Jon Svendsgaard

Dale Jon Svendsgaard, 66, of Fergus Falls, died unexpectedly, Friday, December 28, 2018.

Dale was born August 6, 1952, to James and Idella (Marquardt) Svendsgaard in Fergus Falls. In 1970 he graduated from Fergus Falls High School. On October 22, 1977, Dale married Beverly (“BJ”) Hafner at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.

Through the years Dale held various positions including Deli Express, Holiday Gas Station, The Elks and VFW Post 612. Most recently, Dale drove school bus #92 (the Cat Bus) with Ottertail Minn-Dakota Coaches in Fergus Falls.

Dale enjoyed golfing, keeping his yard groomed, entertaining and loved to make others laugh. He was a very talented artist and musician. Dale was especially proud of his two daughters and his three grandchildren.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, James and Idella Svendsgaard; brothers, Scott Svendsgaard, Richard Svendsgaard and Paul Svendsgaard; brothers-in-law, Floyd Potts and Larry McLain.

Dale is survived by his wife, BJ; daughters, Lesley (Paul Schafer) Knudson and Michelle (Tyler Thompson) Anderson; grandchildren, Scott (Destiny Erickson) Knudson , Amber Anderson, Madison Anderson ; siblings, Larry (Doreen) Svendsgaard, Roger (Rachael) Svendsgaard, Kristi Ulland, Marybeth Potts; sister-in-law, Deborah Svendsgaard; sister-in-law, Debbie Termini; mother-in-law, Veronica (Myron) Goughnour; brother-in-law, Bruce (Arlene) Hafner; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Come and join us for a Celebration of Dale’s Life at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Olson Funeral Home Chapel, Fergus Falls. Visitation: One hour prior to the service.
