Dagney Borghild Nelson

Dagney B. (Erickson) Nelson, 89, of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, Friday April 1, 2016, at Woodland Lodge in Fergus Falls, under the care of Lakeland Hospice.
Dagney was born on December 11, 1926, to Christian and Emma (Larson) Erickson in rural Pelican Rapids, the youngest of five children. She was baptized at Faith Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. As a child, she moved with her family to the Rothsay area. She was confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rothsay and attended School District #194 in Pelican Rapids and School District #4 in Rothsay and later earned her G.E.D.
As a young woman, Dagney moved out west, and worked in health care and also did some office work. She was an adventuresome woman and enjoyed travelling and a variety of jobs. While in Portland, she met Chester Oliver Nelson. They were married on April 30, 1958. They lived in Portland for a few years and then in 1961, the couple moved to South Dakota. Chester became ill and passed away on July 11, 1963.
After Chester’s passing, Dagney moved to Moorhead, MN, where she worked for Silver Line Boats and later worked as a metro bus driver. In her later years, she moved to Fergus Falls to be near her family. She resided at the Silver Leaf Apartments, Mill Street Residence and Woodland Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Emma Erickson; her husband, Chester Nelson; her sisters, Ellen (Ernest) Grunewald and Edna (Arthur) Grunewald; and her brothers, Glenn (Selma) Erickson and Louis Erickson.
Dagney is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including her caregivers, Elaine Thiel and Linda Shea, both of Fergus Falls; her sister, Hilda Steinbough of Idaho; and a sister-in-law, Inga Erickson of Arizona.
A Time of Sharing and Fellowship will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the Mill Street Residence in Fergus Falls, with a prayer service at 10:30 AM.

Interment: Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Rothsay, MN
