Curtis Malcolm Anderson, 75, of Fergus Falls died Monday, June 13, 2016, at Lake Region Healthcare.
Curt was born on December 16, 1940, to Joseph and Myrtle (Braaten) Anderson in Fergus Falls. He attended a one-room school house in Aurdal Township and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1958.
Curt started school at NDSCS in 1961. He withdrew to enter the United States Navy, enlisting in January 1963. He was released from active duty and transferred to the Naval Reserve in January 1967 until he was honorably discharged in January 1969. During his four years of active duty he served in the Vietnam War. Curt returned to NDSCS in 1967 and graduated in 1968 with his AA in Automotive Mechanics.
On December 5, 1970, Curt married Hyacinth (Cindy) Schumer at St. Stephen Catholic Church in St. Stephen, MN. Curt worked in the automotive repair and parts industry as well as farming on his family’s farmstead in Aurdal Township near Fish Lake.
Curt enjoyed reading and woodworking. He fished and hunted his entire life. In his later years he hunted for the perfect photograph of birds and wildlife. He cherished teaching his children and grandchildren about nature on the family farm.
Curt is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Myrtle Anderson; and his sisters, Janice Prechel and Glorianne Swenson.
Curt is survived by his wife, Cindy Anderson of Fergus Falls; his children, Beth (Charles) Zhungu of Crystal Lake, IL, Brad (Stephanie) Anderson of Duluth, and Becky Boyd of Fergus Falls; his grandchildren, Jeremy Zhungu, Jonah Zhungu, Olivia Anderson, Ian Anderson, Aubree Anderson, Zach Boyd, Justin Boyd, Maddie Boyd and Izzy Boyd; his sister, Debby (David) Haiby of Rio Rancho, NM; his brother-in-law, Wayne Swenson of Fergus Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
