Cora Elliott

Cora Olinda Elliott, 89, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, June 13, 2011, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. She was born December 24, 1921 in Pomme de Terre Township of Grant County, Minnesota, the daughter of Casper and Thea (Haarstad) Holte. She grew up on the farm in rural Elbow Lake, attending country school. Prior to her marriage she worked on the farm and at the Falls Brewery in Fergus Falls. On January 26, 1946 she married Herbert R. Elliott in Dalton. The couple resided in Fergus Falls where she raised her family. Cora was not only a mother to her children, but also had to be a father after Herbert passed away in 1965. She later was employed at the Regional Treatment Center in the Dietary Department as a cook. She retired from the RTC in 1987. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary.  Cora enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, flower gardening, playing cards, and dancing. Preceding her in death were her husband, Herbert; a daughter, Annette Geschwill; her siblings: Palmer, Anna, James, Louise, Cora Olinda, Gilma, Ella, and Emil; and a family friend, George Moerke. Survivors include four children: Marlyne (Wayne) Johnson of Fergus Falls, Wayne (Stacy) Elliott of Richville, Jerry (Sheila) Elliott of Fergus Falls, and Doug Elliott of Elbow Lake; ten grandchildren: JayAnn (Jerome) Grant, Brent (Karen) Johnson, Shawn (Kate) Elliott, James Elliott, Jeri Elliott, Robert Elliott, Alex Elliott, Trisha Geschwill, Jesse (Tressa) Geschwill, and Emily Elliott; seven great-grandchildren: Amanda Grant, Kaylee Grant, Kianna Posch, Chloe Geschwill, Evelynn Elliott, Abbey Elliott, and Owen Talberg; a sister, Corrine Fjosne of Fargo; a sister-in-law, Marion Holte of Ashby; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
