Cody Opatz, 23, of Fergus Falls, died at his home on Thursday, December 13, 2012.
He was born April 16, 1989, in Fergus Falls, the son of Mark “Scott” and Cynthia “Cindy” (Miller) Opatz. He was baptized at First United Church of Christ, Fergus Falls, and continued to be a member of the congregation. He attended the Fergus Falls Schools and was a member of the Fergus Falls Boxing Club.
Cody was employed at Hunan Springs, Sigelman Steel and Recycling, Runningen Furs, and most recently Harvest Homes, all of Fergus Falls. He enjoyed music; drawing; history; historically relevant computer games; hunting and fishing with his dad, brother, and grandpa; outdoor yard work; and was a very good cook. He was learning to speak Polish and Chinese. Family and friends were so important to him. He had a big heart, felt very deeply, and was a true friend. He was a funny person who loved to sing. And he enjoyed every minute with his cat Pai Mei.
Preceding him in death were his father, Scott Opatz; his uncle, Matthew J. Opatz; and his grandmother, Joanne Miller.
Survivors include his mother, Cindy; two sisters, Stephanie (Nathan) Hoff and Hannah Opatz; a brother, Matthew Opatz; grandparents, Marcus and Gloria Opatz and Clarence “Clem” Miller; and a niece, Ayla Hoff, all of Fergus Falls, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless great friends.
Visitation 4-7 pm Tuesday with a prayer service at 6 pm at the funeral home. There will be no reviewal at the church
