Clifford Scott

Clifford “Scotty” Scott, 94, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Pioneer Retirement Community in Fergus Falls.   He was born January 6, 1915 in Orwell Township of Otter Tail County, the son of Bert and Elizabeth (Brendecke) Scott. He attended rural school and lived and worked on the home farm until he joined the Armed Services in February of 1942. He served in the Medical Corp for 3 ½ years, including two years in the South Pacific, and received a Bronze Medal for his service. He was discharged in November of 1945. On February 14, 1946, he married Violet Hanson at Evangelical Reformed Church in Fergus Falls. He was employed by Park Region Bakery and worked there for 26 years as a route salesman. After suffering a heart attack in 1973 he was employed by Norwest Bank for 14 years.   He was a member of First United Church of Christ, serving on the Church Board, the VFW and worked for several years with the Boy Scouts. He also belonged to the Kelliher Deer Club and enjoyed the yearly hunting season. Time spent outdoors observing all the birds and animals was a favorite activity. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, son, Timothy Scott; his brothers, Walter, Gaylord and Glen; and his sisters, Ethel, Eunice, Laura, and Blanche. Survivors include his wife, Violet Scott of Fergus Falls; a daughter, Tracy Carter of Golden Valley; four grandsons; Jon (Melissa) Carter, Jeff, Ben and Matt Carter and four great-grandchildren; Tyler, Aaron, Hunter and Cheyenne; brother, Merle (Emily) Scott and a daughter-in-law, Lori Scott, former son-in-law, Steve Carter; his brother-in-law, Ernie Sundberg. Also surviving are numerous brothers and sisters-in-law and other relatives. Visitation:  One hour prior to the service at the church. Service:  11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Church of Christ Church,  Fergus Falls.
