Clarence Roger Kumm, 88, a resident of Fergus Falls, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013, at the Pioneer Homestead Cottage in Fergus Falls.
He was born August 22, 1924, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Otto and Jennie (Fuchs) Kumm. He always held close ties to his family. He began a career farming in Carlisle Township with his brother, Arnold.
In 1961 he fell in love, leaving the country behind for the city when he married Ramona Trosvig-Boese on January 15, 1961 in Fergus Falls, and opening his heart to her daughter, Brenda K. Boese. The two would later grow their family welcoming Jeffrey and Jonathan into the world.
Clarence was always willing to work hard and enjoyed helping others. This was most evident in the joy he had working for School District #544. He loved being a part of all the children’s lives that walked through his schools halls. He greeted each with a smile.
His free time was spent fishing, hunting and snowmobiling with his sons. He loved to cut wood.
Clarence was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Clarence is preceded in death by his brothers, Rolla and Arnold, a baby sister, and nephews Robert Marquardt and Arne Kumm.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona; daughter Brenda Boese; sons Jeffrey and Jonathan; grandchildren Brandon (Katie) Rathert, Hannah and Sydney Kumm; great-grandchildren Stella, Sophie, Scarlett and Sawyer Rathert; and sister, Evelyn (Russell) Marquardt.
