Clare Caspers

Clare E. Caspers, age 90, beloved Father and Grandfather passed away on Thursday December 27, 2007, at the Methodist Hospital Hospice, St. Louis Park He was born April 15, 1917, in Brushvale, MN, the son of Jacob and Kathyrn (Richels) Caspers. He attended schools in Breckenridge and served in WWII as an Air Force Communications Specialist in the South Pacific. On May 13, 1944, he married Caroline (Carol) E. Bluth of Grey Eagle, MN, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Breckenridge. In 1947, the couple moved to Fergus Falls, MN, where they were life-long residents. Clare worked as a sales representative for Sunshine Biscuit, Inc., for twenty five years. After retiring from Sunshine Biscuit, he worked many years for Ferguson Brokers, Fargo, ND. In August 2003, he moved to Minneapolis to be near his children where he resided at St. Therese Southwest Catholic Community, Hopkins, MN. From St. Therese he transitioned to Woodland Hills Residential Home, Minnetonka., MN, and in March he became a resident of Presbyterian Homes on Lake Minnetonka. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Parish, Fergus Falls, MN, where he served on the Parish Council, was an usher and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Clare was an avid Vikings and Twins fan, a life long member of the Elks Club and VFW in Fergus Falls and was recognized for his volunteerism with the American Red Cross. He and his wife Carol were members, with friends, for 34 years of a Fergus Falls whist club. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grand children especially on Ottertail Lake. Preceding him in death in 1994 was his beloved wife of 49 years, Carol. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Richard and Robert. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Caspers, Mary (Dean) Lindbloom, Judy Caspers all of Minneapolis; one son, Tom of Minneapolis, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and two brothers; Milan (Mary) of Breckenridge, and George (Winnie) of Denver, Co. Also surviving is a sister in law Bernice Caspers of Wahpeton, ND. Visitation:     5-7 p.m. Sunday at the Olson Funeral Home. A Knights of Columbus Rosary, followed by Parish Prayers will begin at 5:30. Reviewal resumes one hour prior to the services at the church Services: 10:00 Monday December 31, 2007 at the Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Fergus Falls.
