Clara M. Muckey, 91, a resident of Sleepy Eye, and formerly of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. She was born on April 1st 1919 the daughter of George Jr. and Nelly Ferguson. She attended the country school #187 until the eighth grade. Clara and Melvin Walter Muckey were married at the Maplewood Presbyterian Church in Maplewood of August 21, 1940. Their children remember that date well because Clara and Melvin celebrated every year by having blueberry pie. During her life she worked at the City Bakery in Fergus Fall and the Good Samaritan Society in Pelican Rapids. She was also a homemaker and a farmer who would do anything she could to take care of her family, friends and neighbors. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with family, crocheting, gardening, quilting, and after being taught by Melvin, knitting. Preceded in death were her husband, Melvin; five siblings: Robert, Leroy and Chester Ferguson, Gertrude and Pearl Schempp; and son-in-law. James Mathews. Clara is survived by her two children: Esther Mathews and Donald Muckey; eight grandchildren: Steve (Wendy) and Tom Mathews, Kaye (Steve) Johnson, Duane, Brian, Dale, Dusty and Duke Muckey; brother: David Shearon; and many nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, at Knollwood Memorial Gardens in Fergus Falls, with Chaplain Harry Olson officiating. Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of arrangements.
