Charlotte LeVon Moen, 87, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Pioneer Cottages in Fergus Falls.
She was born on December 29, 1930, in Trondhjem Township of rural Rothsay, to John H. and Clara (Hovland) Moen. Charlotte attended grade school in District 89 of Rothsay, and then graduated from Hillcrest Academy in Fergus Falls in 1949. She went on to attend college at Moorhead State College, obtaining a degree in teaching Elementary Education in 1961.
She began her teaching career at rural schools, including the Barnard School, rural Underwood. Charlotte’s career then brought her to Mandan, ND from 1958-1961; Robbinsdale, MN, from 1961-1966; Johnston, NY, from 1966-1968; and Hillsboro, OR, from 1968-1988 when she retired. In 1993, Charlotte moved to Fargo, ND, and in 1995, she moved to Fergus Falls. She then lived in Perham for a short time before returning to Fergus Falls where she lived until her passing.
Charlotte was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, WELCA and Circle. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, word and number puzzles, and reading. Charlotte did extensive traveling, including very special trips to the Holy Land and Australia.
Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Clara Moen; sisters and brothers-in-law, Delia (Lyle) Johnson, Irene (Elmer) Ronningen, Ilene (Lloyd) Lien, Evelyn (Robert) Lamm; brothers-in-law, Wilfred (Bud) Zimmerman, James Drechsel; sister-in-law, Marie Moen; nieces, Lynette Toso, Marcia Toso; nephews, Trevor Moen, Craig Zimmerman; and great-nephews, Troy Honrud and John Ramirez.
Survivors include her siblings, Avis Zimmerman, Judith (Ken) Toso, Geraldine Drechsel, Ardell Moen, and Donald Moen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Charlotte was extremely devoted to her students and her family. When Charlotte and Ardell both retired, they chose to live together and support each other in their later years. She will be greatly missed by all of her family.
A private family service will be held. Burial will take place at North Friborg Cemetery, rural Rothsay.
