Charles Douglas “Chuck” Vigen, 62, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, April 18, 2010, as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident near Dent. He was born September 25, 1947, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the son of Bill and Ollie (Brevig) Vigen. He graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1966, and then moved to Connecticut to attend college. He pursued a career in real estate for 12 years. He taught science at the Fergus Falls Middle School for 20 years, retiring in 2009. He worked as a water patrol officer for eight years. In 1985 he married Roxanne Mauch at the bride’s home in Fergus Falls. Chuck loved to go motorcycling, loved his cars, and loved reading, talking about traveling, and going places. He loved his golden retrievers. He enjoyed being at the lake, watching birds, and enjoying the garden Roxie worked so hard on. Whether it was sailing, cars, bikes, or boating – he was ready to go. Let’s do it! The biggest honor of his career was being named by the Fergus Falls Class of 2009 as their most influential educator. Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Delores Nelson, a brother, Donald Vigen, and his mother-in-law Helen Mauch. He is survived by those he loved: his wife, Roxie, of Fergus Falls; his son, Cass Vigen of Minneapolis, his daughter, Tove Vigen, his son, Lars Vigen, and their mother, Jean, all of Connecticut; a sister, Marcia Ferber of Fergus Falls; two brothers, Warren (Beata) Vigen of St. Cloud, and Richard (Sandra) Vigen of Bloomington; and numerous nieces and nephews. His memory will always ride free.
