Charles U. Peasley, 85, a resident of Erhard, died peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Pioneer Homestead Cottage in Fergus Falls.
He was born July 6, 1929 to William and Nettie (Helgeson) Peasley in Maplewood Township. He grew up in Maplewood Township and attended Country School.
On March 16, 1947 he was united in marriage to Eileen Gast. They lived in Rothsay and Maplewood before purchasing the farm in 1957 where they dairy farmed and raised their family.
Charles worked for Ouren Brothers Construction for many years as a finish carpenter and he also did a lot of farming.
He was a member of Tonseth Lutheran Church, serving on the board for several years and was baptized as an adult there.
Charles enjoyed playing cards and was quite the jokester. He also enjoyed working on projects in his woodshop, which was his pride and joy. He loved his farm but his absolute greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Eileen; daughter, Marilyn Peasley-Robinson; grandson, Justin Peasley; brother, Murrel Peasley; two sisters, Betty Bolstad and Adeline Mostue.
Survivors include his children: Charlene (Lyle) Peasley-Wilmes, Bruce (Carol) Bentley Peasley, Craig (Mona) Peasley, and Curtis (Christy) Peasley; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Violet Emery of Erhard, Clarence Peasley of Erhard, Carrol Peasley of Erhard and Darrel (Linda) Peasley of Burns, OR; sister-in-law, Idella Peasley of Burns, OR.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Tonseth Lutheran Church in Erhard, Minnesota
