Charles Homuth

Charles Edward Homuth, 63, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at his residence. He was born on May 18, 1947 in Ft. Frances, Canada, the son of Donald Homuth and Lois (Brigham) Mickelson. He attended Roosevelt grade school in Fargo and in 1965 he graduated from Fargo Central High School. After high school, he entered the United States Marines in which he served for 20 years, including tours in Vietnam.  He then was employed with the Social Security Administration until his retirement. On December 29, 1965, he married Lois Rachel in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Together they had three children. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed camping, computers, collecting vintage comic books; wrestling, and oldies music. Preceding him in death was his father, Donald, who died in 1958; mother, Lois, who died in 2008 and his son, Charles Edward Homuth II, who died in 1999. Survivors include, his daughter, Christine Welch of Fergus Falls; son, Michael Homuth of Fargo; six grandchildren, Christopher Snodgrass, Kirstin Welch, Ashley Tyagi, Cassandra Homuth, Destiny Homuth, and Trevor Homuth; brothers, Donald (Kathy Cegla) Homuth of Salem, OR, Larry (Lisa) Homuth of Fargo, and Brian Homuth of Fargo; sisters, Maureen Mickelson of Savage, MN and Lois (Jerry) Novacek of Fargo; his longtime companion, Lois Homuth; and his beloved canine companions, Mac and Katie. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, January 29, 2011, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls Clergy: Reverend Ed Monson and Reverend David Foss  Burial: Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota Arrangements: Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, Minnesota
