Charlene H. (Muhlenbeck) Hendrickx, 80, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, North Dakota. She was born April 2, 1932, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry J. and Alice (Foster) Fick. She grew up in the Fergus Falls area, where she graduated from high school. In 1950 she married Harold Muhlenbeck, and they farmed north of Fergus Falls until 1976 when Harold passed away. In 1985 she married Norbert Hendrickx. He passed away in 1987. She worked at various places before finding her life job with Otter Tail County Social Services. She worked there until retiring in 1993 to care for her parents. She also played organ for over 50 years at St. John Lutheran Church in Elizabeth, and also played at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Music was always an important part of Charlene’s life. She loved to sing, singing and playing for many weddings and funerals. She also loved working on puzzles, traveling in her RV, reading, and enjoyed forwarding joke emails. She had beautiful flower gardens. Spending time with her family, and especially all of her grandchildren, brought her special joy. Preceding her in death were her parents, and both husbands. Survivors include her children: Paulette (Gale) Patterson, Peggy (Ray) Bernard, Harlan Muhlenbeck, James (Tracy) Muhlenbeck, and Allyson (Jarid) Norgren; 11 grandchildren: Chris, Casey, and Chad (Sheridan) Patterson, Kershann Erdman, Shane Emerson, Erin (Andy) Boyum, Kyle (Krista), Nathan, and Ben Muhlenbeck, and Dustin and Cody Norgren; and six great-grandchildren: Domonic and Alyce Erdman, Gracelynn Kirklewski, and Austyn, Olyvia and Carsyn Boyum. Memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
