Carolyn Friedrich

Carolyn M. Friedrich, 68, a resident of rural Fergus Falls, died Friday, January 9, 2009 at her home. Carolyn was born on September 15, 1940 in Appleton, MN, the daughter of Theodore and Emma (Struck) Vandermeer.   She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1958. She married Larry Ott in June of 1959 and together they had four children, Jolene, James, Jerry and Jason. She married Elwyn Friedrich on January 21, 1978 at Tingvold Lutheran Church in rural Underwood. During the years she worked at True Value Hardware, Archie’s and most recently North Union Texaco.  Carolyn was an active member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Elizabeth and in the ladies aide. She enjoyed crocheting, watching demo derby’s, cooking big meals for her family, organizing Easter egg hunts and spending time with her family.  Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers-in-law, Gilbert Gunderson and DuWayne Friedrich and her in-laws, Arnold and Hilda Friedrich.  Survivors include her husband, Elwyn of Fergus Falls; nine children; Jolene (Kevin) Lubitz of Perham, Jim (Kari) Ott of Erhard, Jerry (Dawn) Ott of Fergus Falls, Jason (Mindy) Ott of Barnesville, Jeff (Linda) Friedrich of Stillwater, Bruce (Jane) Friedrich of Forest Lake, Greg (Colleen) Friedrich of Long Prairie, Glenn (Kim) Friedrich of Randolph, and Becky Friedrich of Inver Grove Heights; 28 grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler, Sydney, Austin, Shawna, Ivy, Amanda, Lacey, Creed, Haili, Caleb, Justin, Jennifer, Jacob, Jessica, Amanda, Chrisy, Rich, Matt, Jeremey, David, Jennifer, Greg, Jessica, Carlee, Ben, Jake, and Travis; six great-grandchildren, Cameron, Logan, Emma, Mason, Elliott and Jordan; two sisters, Donna (Warren) Umlauf of Fergus Falls, and Sandie (Dick) Jochim of Mounds View; brother-in-law, Arlo (Elenore) Friedrich of Fergus Falls and sisters-in-law, Ellen Gunderson of DoyLine, Louisiana, and Delores Friedrich of Fergus Falls. Memorials are preferred to Augustana Lutheran Church in Elizabeth, Lakeland Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Visitation:  5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the  service at the church. Service:  1 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls.
