The family of Carol Frances Rose of Fergus Falls, MN is saddened to announce her passing on November 11th, 2024, at the age of 84 years.
Carol was born October 27th, 1940, in Minneapolis, MN. Royal Ernest Grandlund and Lillian Frances (Gaarden) Grandlund, of Fergus Falls, MN chose her as their own daughter in March of 1941.
Carol attended McKinley Grade School and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1958. She enjoyed being a Campfire Girl, having adventures with her closest friend Yvonne, Town and Country Saddle Club riding horses with her family and friends, developed a passion for reading, enjoyed time at the family cottage, and took many trips to Miles City, Montana. Carol went on to college in Alamosa, Colorado where she met another lifelong friend Marie.
She was confirmed at Federated Church. Her faith was important to her, and she put it into action by gifting her time and talents to numerous church boards, Women's Fellowship, and cherished her time being the Food Coordinator for the Wednesday Kids Club at Federated Church.
Through a blind date she met W. Duane Rose in February of 1961. They were united in marriage at Federated Church on April 28th, 1962. In 1964 their daughter Pamela was born and before her first birthday they moved to their farm outside of Fergus Falls, where she could again enjoy her love of horses. Deborah completed their family with her birth in 1967. Carol grew close friendships through her participation in Aurdal Homemakers Group.
She was a switch board operator for Bell Telephone and Head Start Aid, but her passion was her career of being a mother and homemaker. She was a caring, involved mom, dedicated wife, and a loving grandmother. Who provided a warm welcoming home where family and friends enjoyed spending time.
Carol was dedicated to serving others. She was a member of the original organizers for the Lions Reading for the Blind Program, a member of the Fergus Falls Lioness Club later moved her membership to the Underwood Lioness Club. After Lioness Clubs were dissolved, she became a member of the Elizabeth Lions Club and received the Melvin Jones Fellow, an honor for dedicated humanitarian services.
Carol had many passions. She was an adult leader for 4-H as her children grew up. Later in life she enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren show their projects. Carol enjoyed watching her family's involvement in extracurricular sports and activities, where her cheering and encouragement could be heard by everyone! She had a lifelong love of reading, enjoyed baking and cooking up delicious treats and meals, crafting, decorating for every holiday, spending time at the cabin, visiting with friends and family and traveling. She traveled to Norway spending two months with a host family, explored Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy with her children and husband, made it to all 50 states and Canada while camping with her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed many coach bus trips all over the state and country with friends and family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years, Duane Rose; daughter, Pamela Schauff; granddaughter, Kylie Schauff; grandson, Dillon Schauff; great-granddaughters, Skylar Johnson and Lillyana Johnson, along with numerous relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lillian Grandlund; father and mother-in-law, Walter and Esther Rose; daughter, Deborah Lynn Rose, and son-in-law, John Phillip Schauff.
