Joyce “Carol” Johnson, 72, of Fergus Falls died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Lake Region Hospital. She was born on May 6, 1941 to Sigurd and Gladys Vikesland. She was raised by Catherine and ER Johnson.
Carol was confirmed at First Lutheran Church and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1959. She married J. Peter Johnson in September 1960. Carol and her family spent a few years in California but she spent the majority of her childhood and adult life in Fergus Falls. She was a loving mother, a devoted Christian and was a long-standing member of Augustana Lutheran Church.
Carol volunteered over 3,200 hours at the Pioneer Home caring for both her mother and the other residents of the home. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and all of her sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews.
Survivors include her daughter, Holly Johnson; sons, Shawn (Shannon), Blake (Janelle), and Brent (Sonja) Johnson; sisters, Jeanie Yagel of California, and Gloria (Robert) Rystad of Grand Forks, ND; brother, Alan Fowler of Rapid City, SD; brother-in-law, Wilson Cox of Fargo, ND; 12 grandchildren, Brittany, Dustin, Derek, Kendra, Andrew, Reece, Keagan, Ella May, Autumn, Braydan, Dannikka, and Graesyn; 4 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; an infant son, Perry; grandson, Brendan; sister, Dolores Cox; and a brother Ron Vikesland.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church
Memorial Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls

Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery in Fergus Falls
