Carol Buchholz, 82, died May 17, 2014, at the Broen Memorial Home, Fergus Falls, surrounded by her family.
She was born December 15, 1931, on the family farm, rural Erdahl, the daughter of Clifford and Myrtle (Peterson) Wik. She attended school in Evansville, graduating from there in 1949. She later received her nurses training at Wrights Hospital in Fergus Falls. She worked at the Broen Memorial Home and as a ward clerk at the Lake Region Hospital, both in Fergus Falls.
On October 24, 1953, she married Howard K. Buchholz at the Calvary Covenant Church in Evansville. In 1954, they purchased a farm in Aurdal Township, residing there until 1997, when they moved to Fergus Falls.
Carol loved music, handiwork, and gardening, and enjoyed cake decorating for her family on special occasions such as birthdays, graduations and weddings. She was a 4-H leader, a member of a homemakers group and volunteered at the MN Veterans Home.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband.
Survivors include her four sons: Steven (Janet) of Cambridge, Daryl (Sandra) of Shakopee, Scott (Martha) of Battle Lake, and Gary (Karla) of Maple Grove; grandchildren: Carrie (Chuck) Stevermer, Angie Buchholz, Marcy (Patrick) Watts, Erik Bagley, and Amy, Luke, Spencer (fiancé Julianna), Austin, Megan, Stephen, Zachary and Brian Buchholz; two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Conrad Stevermer; sisters, Ardis (Marcus) Alvstad of Elbow Lake, Marjorie (Mrs. Jim) Berry of Evansville and Joyce (Roger) Langlie of Ashby along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-7 pm Wednesday with a prayer service at 6:30 pm at the funeral home and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 1 pm Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Fergus Falls
