C. Sanco

Cleo Jean Sanco, 86, a resident of rural Erhard, died Thursday, August 16, 2007, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. She was born June 20, 1921, in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Charles and Cleopatra (Zent) Sanco. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1939. After graduation she began working for Northwestern Bell Telephone. Throughout her career she lived and worked in Park Rapids, Appleton, Bemidji, Rochester, and Duluth, retiring from the company in Duluth in 1979. After her retirement she moved to rural Erhard where she has lived since. Jean enjoyed flowers, gardening, eating out and socializing with her numerous friends, neighbors and family whom she loved. She was an avid member of BPW, and volunteered with the Lake Region Hospital Auxiliary, the Telephone Pioneers, and the Meals By Wheels program. Throughout her life she was a CampFire Girl, and continued her association with her CampFire girls. She was an active member at Federated Church. Preceding her in death were three sisters: Margaret Sanco, Dorothy Sversvold, and Rachel Piekarski; and a niece, Margaret Sversvold. Survivors include three nephews: Charles (Carol) Piekarski and John (Sandy) Piekarski of Fergus Falls, and Jim (Sharon) Piekarski of Frazee; a niece, Marsha (Dave) Thorson of Erhard; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
