Bruce Charles Shol, 69, of Erhard, died Friday, April 26, 2019, at his home.
Bruce was born December 30, 1949, in Fergus Falls to Floyd and Lorraine (Long) Shol.
Bruce served three years in the U.S. Army, 1967 – 1970, serving in the Vietnam War. He received a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Army Commendation Medal. After his discharge, he was a dairy farmer for 27 years, 1970 – 1997. He then was employed with Ripley’s Inc., for twenty years, as a cable installer and retired in 2017.
Bruce enjoyed cutting wood, helping family and friends, spending time with his children and grandchildren, nature walks, reading and watching movies. He was a member of Stavanger Lutheran Church and the 11th Armored Cavalry’s Veterans of Vietnam Cambodia.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lorraine Shol; sisters, Vickie and baby girl Shol; niece, Debbie Shulstad; numerous aunts and uncles and brother-in-law, Larry Samuelson.
Bruce is survived by his children, Heather Valen of Thompsons Station, TN, Misty (Adam) Lustberg of Dade City, FL, Cody Shol of Lutz, FL, and Jennifer (Christopher) Wentworth of Waddell, AZ; grandchildren, Bajory Lustberg of Spokane, WA, Eryca Lustberg of Dade City, FL, Brianna Wentworth and Alyssa Wentworth of Waddell, AZ and Skylar Valen of Thompsons Station, TN; sisters, Sandy Drechsel, Nancy Kjono, Patsy Pierce, Susan Samuelson, Cindy Nickelson; brother, Donnie Shol and aunts, Hazel Magdich, Doris Long and Shirley Long. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Stavanger Lutheran Church, rural Fergus Falls.
