Bruce Kowalski

September 5, 1957 — June 10, 2015

Bruce Kowalski, 57, of Elizabeth, died Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at his home as a result of complications from his diabetes.

He was born September 5, 1957, in Fergus Falls, the son of Donald and Marcella (Duenow) Kowalski. He attended school in Fergus Falls, graduating in 1975. He then attended Detroit Lakes Technical College in the construction program.

Bruce worked for Miller Brothers, Walkup Construction and other companies in the area.

On November 23, 1983, he married Laurie Lehn in South Dakota. They resided in the Elizabeth area, where they have continued to live up until his death.

He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, softball, woodworking, cribbage, gardening, and spending time with friends, family and grandchildren. He was also a volunteer firefighter in Elizabeth.

His father, Donald, and grandparents, Walter and Elsie Duenow, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Laurie; two daughters, Molly Kowalski and Mariah Kowalski, both of Moorhead; two sons, Christopher (Rachel) Kowalski of Fergus Falls and Casey (Cassandra) Kowalski of Dalton; two grandchildren, Savannah and Logan as well as one expected to arrive in September; his mother, Marcella Kowalski of Fergus Falls; siblings, Cheryl Holt of Fergus Falls, Bobby Jim (Gina) Kowalski of Vadnais Heights, Bonnie (Steve) Olmanson of St. Cloud and Brenda (Mark) Christopherson of Fergus Falls and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A time of sharing memories of Bruce will be held at 6 pm Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Elizabeth Community Center in Elizabeth.
