Bruce Bakke

Bruce A. Bakke, 72, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, July 1, 2007, at his home. He was born July 16, 1934, in Superior, Wisconsin, the son of Martha Noble and stepson of Joseph Noble. He attended Superior Central High School in Superior Wisconsin, graduating in 1953. On May 25, 1955, he married Nancy Robbins in Superior. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1958. Bruce was a photographer with Benson Studio in Superior. He later moved to Ashland, Wisconsin where he owned a photography studio and also worked for the Ashland Daily Press in the Sports Department. In 1968, they moved to Fergus Falls where he was employed by the Daily Journal as the sports editor. Because of health problems, Bruce retired in 1982. He was a member the Fergus Falls Elks for 48 years and also belonged to Bethlehem Lutheran Church. His family and friends were very important to him, followed by the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed all sports, especially bowling and he camped many years at Elks Point, rural Fergus Falls. Ten of the past summers they camped at Pathfinder Village near Hinckley. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; children, Lori (Andre) Christianson of Cottage Grove and Bruce W. (Lisa) Bakke of Humble, TX; grandchildren, Michelle (Wm.) Dickmeyer of Woodbury, Kari Christianson of Oakdale, Jared Bakke of Montevideo and Taylor and Kaity Bakke of Humble, TX; siblings, Dianne (Paul) Matsumoto of Kaneohe, HI, John (Chris) Noble of Wausau, WI, Debbie (Gerald) Noble-Olson of Superior, WI; a sister-in-law, Bonnie McKay of Superior, WI; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends and neighbors who have been significant in his life. For over ten years, he and Nancy nurtured several foster children with PATH. Memorials are preferred to Lakeland Hospice.
