Beverly Hanson

Beverly Christine Hanson, 83, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She was born April 5, 1929, in Hubbard County near Bemidji, Minnesota, the daughter of Anton and Mary (Schmitt) Schummer. She grew up in the area, graduating from Bemidji High School in 1947. On May 26, 1951, she married LeRoy “Bud” Hanson in Wadena, Minnesota. She started her work career with Western Union in Detroit Lakes and Wadena. She also worked at Runnigens Café, The Spot, and for 37 years at the Elks Club, retiring in 1991. She then worked part time for the Hockey Association. Beverly enjoyed Bingo, crossword puzzles, baking, and loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, LeRoy “Bud” in Dec. 2007, a son, Michael in 1985, a grandson, Jacob, and two brothers, Jack and Alvin Schummer. Survivors include her children: Duane (Kim Lillemon) of Erhard, Carol (Mel) Klein of Clearwater, Terry (Colleen) of Fergus Falls, Pam (Jeff) Hanson of Fergus Falls, and Tom of Fergus Falls; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Leona Traut of Bemidji; a brother, Charles Schummer of Bemidji; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with a 7 p.m. prayer service and resumes one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Service: 11 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012, at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls Clergy: Chaplain Harry Olson Interment: First United Church of Christ Cemetery, Fergus Falls Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
