Betty Skramsted

Betty Skramsted, 94, of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, December 19, 2024, at LB Broen Home.

Betty Ione Hanson was born December 14, 1930 to Melvin and Clara Mathilda (Schierman) Hanson in Erhard Grove Township, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She attended Otter Tail County District 17 School.

In March 1948, Betty married Lyle Thomas Homes, they had four daughters Patricia Lou, Rebecca Lea, Mary Beth, and Ann Marie. Lyle passed away in 1982.

On July 3, 1987 Betty married Roy Skramsted. They were married for 29 years, until Roy passed away in 2016.

Betty worked at the Broen Home for many years. In the early 80's, Betty and Roy bought Maple Leaf Resort and operated it for 16 years. All of her grandchildren grew up making memories at the resort.

She was a lifetime member of the VFW and Eagle's Auxiliaries, and Grace Lutheran Church in Erhard. Betty enjoyed going dancing, playing Bingo, doing puzzles, reading, maintaining her collections, and going to the auction. But above all else she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Betty had a shirt and clip on earrings to match for every occasion and sometimes a hat too!

Preceding her in death were her husbands, Lyle Homes and Roy Skramsted; daughter, Rebecca Wedll; brothers Leonard and Morris Hanson; her parents, Melvin and Clara Hanson, and her twin brother, Baby Boy Hanson.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Pat (Ron) Harrison, Mary Homes, and Ann (Jon) Gaustad; son-in-law, James Wedll; 14 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren and two more on the way; sister-in-law, LaVerne Hanson, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the Olson Funeral and Cremation Chapel in Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the service.

Interment: Central Lutheran Cemetery, Pelican Rapids, MN
