Betty Marie (Anderson) Kohlhase of Fergus Falls, MN died peacefully surrounded by family on October 26, 2019 at the age of 88.
Betty was born on February 8, 1931, in Erhard, MN, to Arthur and Antoinette Anderson. She attended country school in Erhard and was confirmed September 6, 1942, at Tonseth Lutheran Church.
Betty was united in marriage to Floyd Kohlhase on September 17, 1950. She and Floyd resided in California during Floyd’s service with the U.S. Navy, but returned to Fergus Falls where they made their home.
Before starting their family, Betty worked at The Ranch House and City Bakery. She enjoyed gardening, Thursday lunches with her siblings, camping, snowmobiling, reading romance novels, embroidering, playing games, and most of all spending time with her family. Betty loved photographs, she was known to be the one behind the camera and not the one being photographed - her famous line was, “I don’t want to break the camera.”
She is survived by her children, Rick (Wanda) Kohlhase, Sharon Ruud, Cindy (Rick) Wasvick, Randy Kohlhase, Jeff (Jo) Kohlhase; grandchildren, Jessica Kohlhase, Derek (Sasha) Kohlhase, Amy (Josh) Klimek, Kristina Ruud, Nathan (Sabrina) Wasvick, Michael (Lexi) Wasvick, Jennifer Kohlhase, Bradley Kohlhase, Katie Kohlhase, Colton Kohlhase, Tina (Brian) Billings, Stephanie (Ryan) Payson; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Makayla, Natalie, Kassidy, Josiah, Isla, and Raegan; sisters, JoAnne Haiby and Dorene Nelson; brothers, Elroy Anderson and Kenny Anderson, and also a brother and sister-in-law. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law Timothy Ruud; grandson, Karl Ruud; sisters, Leone Backstrom and Verna Mae Duenow; brother, Laurel Anderson, and also some of her brothers and sisters-in-law.
Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 1 pm Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at Hope Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Betty’s life.
