Betty Ann Bednarz, 90, a resident of the Fergus Falls area, died Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls.
Betty was born on November 30, 1925, to Charles and Sophie (Jorgenson) Wemstrom in rural Doran, MN. She was baptized in Fergus Falls and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Elizabeth, where she was a member. She attended school in Henning and Fergus Falls.
In 1945, Betty was united in marriage to Lawrence Bednarz and they made their home in rural Erhard. Over the years, she worked at Scott’s Dime Store, the Lincoln Café, the Old Bus Depot and Skogmo’s Café in Fergus Falls and also worked for many years at Swan Drug in Pelican Rapids.
Betty enjoyed crafts and artwork, especially painting scenes on handsaws, and visiting with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence Bednarz in 1994; a son, Steven Bednarz in 1971; two sisters, Jewell Leeseberg and Dorothy Morgan; and a brother, Charles Wemstrom.
Betty is survived by her son, David Bednarz of Rothsay; her grandchildren, Sheila, Scott, Dana, Travis, Ryan, and Nathan; a step-granddaughter, Ashley; her great-grandchildren, Steven and Cassidy; her great-greatgrandchildren, Garrett, Jordyn, and Jaisyn; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at 10:30 AM at Hamar Lutheran Cemetery in Rothsay, MN.
