Beryl Johnson

Beryl Genevieve Johnson, 85, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Midwest Home Health in Fergus Falls.  She was born July 16, 1925, in Western Township of Otter Tail County, Minnesota, the daughter of Avery and Alice (Achen) Davenport, one of seven children. She grew up and attended school in Fergus Falls. On June 17, 1946, she married Julian “Arly” Johnson in a garden wedding in Fergus Falls. In addition to raising her family, Beryl was employed at the Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center for 11 years. She retired in 1971 to raise two granddaughters, Marci and Kris. Beryl enjoyed playing bingo and being around children. Preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters, Beverly Hoxie, Janet Steussy, and Marjorie Peterson, a brother, Daryl Davenport, and two daughters, Nancy and her husband, Wayne Bakke, and Gail Frietag. Survivors include her son, Jeff Johnson of Fergus Falls, two daughters, Karen Ouren and her husband, Roy, of Willmar, MN, and Donna O’Meara and her husband Edward of Eureka, CA, and the granddaughters Kris Bakke of Fergus Falls, and Marci Hexum and her husband Kirk of Fergus, both of which they raised from infancy, as well as nine additional grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, a brother, Avery Davenport of Fergus Falls, and a sister, Pat (Merhle) Messer of Fergus Falls. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home Service: 1 p.m. Monday, August 2, 2010, at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls Interment: Knollwood Memorial Gardens in Fergus Falls Funeral Home: Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls Memorials are preferred to the Cancer Care and Research Center in Fergus Falls.
