Beryl B. Hames, 91, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, July 30, 2015 at PioneerCare in Fergus Falls.
Beryl was born on September 17, 1923, to Edwin C. and Anna (Evans) Spencer in Erhard. She was baptized and confirmed at Ringsaker Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids and also attended Tonseth Lutheran Chruch in Edwards. Beryl attended school in District 187 in Edwards.
On September 22, 1941, Beryl married Randall Hames at Ringsaker Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. The couple farmed in the Vergas area until 1962, when they moved to Fergus Falls.
Beryl enjoyed gardening, baking, entertaining family (Mom’s Diner was always open), fishing, handwork, quilting and canning. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Beryl loved being a grandmother to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Anna Spencer; her husband, Randall Hames in 1997; a daughter, Velda Stangvick; a son, Vernon (Vieda) Hames; two grandchildren, Becky and Scott Stangvick; three sisters, Dorothy Emery, Betty Emery and Helen Boese; and six brothers, Gordon, Shearon, Roger, James and two in infancy.
She is survived by her five children, Tammie (Dewy) Maxwell, Terry Hames and Luella Lawson, of Minneapolis, Steve (Suzy) Hames and Linda (Ed) Brist, both of Fergus Falls; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ardis Wahl and Gloria Trupka, both of Fergus Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls
Service: 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 4th, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls
