Bernice N. Kvern, 96, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls.
She was born December 25, 1916, in Gardner, IL, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Eide. She grew up in the Carlisle area, graduating from Fergus Falls High School.
On June 8, 1935 Bernice was married to Alfred Kvern at Zion Lutheran Church. Alfred died on July 9, 1992.
Bernice worked as a psychiatric technician at the State Hospital for 30 years, retiring at the age of 62. She moved to the Mill Street Residence and has lived there for two and a half years.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, being active in Bible study and the Ladies Aid. She loved cross-stitching and sewing, as well as being an excellent cook and precise baker. Bernice also loved her family and enjoyed visiting on many occasions.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Alfred, three children, Katherine McGuire, Charles, and Roger Kvern; sister, Mildred Sether; brothers, Ansgar Eide and Edwin Eide; and grandson, Paul Kvern.
Survivors include her children, Allen Kvern of Seattle, WA, Joycelyn (Gerry) Grenz of Lakeville; daughter-in-law, Marge Kvern of Champlain; 9 grandchildren, Mike, Thersa, Greg, Brian, Stacey, Tim, Phillip, Sally, Sarah; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother, John Henry (Beverly) Eide of Moorhead; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church
Memorial Service: 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls

Interment: Kongsberg Cemetery, rural Fergus Falls, Minnesota
