Bernice Kugler

Bernice Elizabeth Kugler, 89, a resident of Maine Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota, died Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She was born December 22, 1921, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Emilia (Rasimocinte) Kucinskas. She grew up in Chicago where she graduated from Fanger High School. Bernice also attended business college while in Chicago. On October 18, 1945 she married Roydon Kugler and they moved to Maine Township in Otter Tail County, Minnesota, where they lived on a farm. Bernice was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren, enjoying babysitting them and attending their sports games. While she lived in Chicago she was employed at Monarc Ice Cream, Federal Electric and Chicago Cinemas. Bernice was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, and St. James Catholic Church Circle I. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, watching the Twins and Vikings, (she was a devoted “Cubbies” fan) canning and babysitting her grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband Roydon; two brothers, John and Paul Kush; two sisters, Emily Bukauskas and Ann Judeikas: son-in-law Marvin Harthun and great-granddaughter Kaitlyn Sem. Survivors include her son, Ronald (Phyllis) Kugler of Underwood; daughters Barbara (the late Marvin) Harthun and Shirley (Courtney) Sem of Underwood, and Darlene (Michael) Toso of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Kathy (Don) Compton, David (Brita) Kugler, Don Kugler, Kyle (Krista) Sem, Wendy (Scott) Brendmoen, Carmen (Stephen) Anderson, Craig Sem and Kayla (Mike) Harig; and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Inga Kugler, Rachel, Jeremy and Alison Kugler, Tabi and Austin Sem, Jayden, Owen and Landen Harig, and Reagen Anderson. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the church with parish prayers at 6:30 p.m. and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2011, at St. James Catholic Church, rural Underwood MN Clergy: Father LeRoy Schik and Father Paul Folsom Interment: St. James Catholic Cemetery, rural Underwood, MN Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
