Bernard “Bernie” Eugene Adams, 77, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Monday, October 7, 2013 at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.
He was born July 18, 1936, in Beach, North Dakota, the son of Glen and Dorothy (Cheadle) Adams. He grew up in Beach, graduating from Beach High School in 1954. He worked for a time as a ranch hand in Montana. In January of 1956 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving until his discharge in December of 1959. He returned to Montana, resuming his ranch duties. He enrolled at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton in 1956 in the Auto Mechanics program. He then began working for Otter Tail Power Company in Fergus Falls in the Fleet Service Department, where he continued working until his retirement in 1998.
On October 2, 1976, he married Constance Kvernstoen at Sarpsborg Lutheran Church, and they made their home in Fergus Falls.
Bernie enjoyed gardening, fixing cars, and bowling. He had a gift for working with his hands and was able to build or fix anything that presented itself – from playhouses to plumbing.
He was a member of the Electrical Union IBEW, and Life Church, where he helped in the nursery, worked on church lawn equipment, ushered, vacuumed, and volunteered delivering Meals By Wheels.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Constance of Fergus Falls; two daughters, Tina Adams of Fargo, and Kari Adams of Morris; a son, Joel Adams of Spearfish SD; two brothers, Wade Adams of Lake Mary FL, and Donald (Carole) Adams of Glendive MT.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 1 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2013, at Life Church in Fergus Falls
Clergy: Pastor Greg Permann
Interment: Sarpsborg Cemetery, Dalton
Military participation by the Fergus Falls VFW and American Legion.
