Beatrice E. Weiss, 96, of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Pioneer Care Center in Fergus Falls. She was born on September 8, 1914 in Elizabeth, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Emma (Muhlenbeck) Kroll. She attended country school in Elizabeth. On March 7, 1934 she and Clifford Weiss were married at the St. John’s Lutheran Church Parsonage in Elizabeth. They made their home on the family farm near Erhard. Beatrice also worked for a time at the Carr and Hanson Department Store in Pelican Rapids. Beatrice was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was active in Ladies Aid and bible studies. She was a true Christian in every aspect of her life. She had a love of gardening and a real gift and passion for flowers in particular. Her garden was a joy to all who visited. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. Beatrice was also extremely talented in quilt-making, crocheting, and jam-making, winning many blue and purple ribbons at county fairs. Beatrice was greatly loved by all who knew her and will be missed. Preceding her in death were her husband, Cliff, in 1997; her parents; her sisters, Viola Orndorff and Myrtle Boese; and a brother, Everett Kroll. Survivors include her daughter, Val (Michael) Wollan of Fergus Falls; three grandchildren: Greg (Kim) Wollan of White Bear Lake, Vicki (Sam) Smith of San Francisco, and Debra (Jon) Opatz of Fergus Falls; six great-grandchildren: Maren and Elinor Smith, and Sam, Luke, Grace, and Jacob Opatz; three sisters: LaVerne Hanson of Pelican Rapids, Dorothy Dohrer of Fergus Falls, and Charlotte Boese of Stillwater; and many nieces and nephews.
