Barry D. Rieken, 62, of Fergus Falls, died March 5, 2019, at his home.
Barry Dean Rieken was born on December 14, 1956, in Fergus Falls, to Willard and Ardis (Baglien) Rieken. Barry graduated from Fergus Falls Senior High in 1975. He spent most of his career working road construction as a supervisor and foreman. He was a hard worker, whether at work, at home, or helping someone out. He was a do-it-yourselfer, from tinkering in the garage to remodeling homes. His attention to detail and craftsmanship were unmatched. He loved the outdoors. When his schedule allowed, he’d be in the deer woods hunting or on a frozen lake trying to catch the big one. He had a passion for history and music, and he beamed when he could get in your space to share it with you. Barry’s friends were like his family. To say he loved them isn’t enough. Of course, he kept them in stitches most of the time, with a sense of humor like no other. (If you know and love Barry, you’re smiling right now.) Barry believed in living life to the fullest. If he was with us today, he would tell you to do the same. Live life.
Preceding Barry in death is his father, Willard Rieken.
Surviving family members include his son, Michael (Megan) Rieken; daughter, Stephanie (Nathan) Hoff; four granddaughters, Ayla, Jane, Poppy, and Thea; mother, Ardis Rieken; sisters, Sandy Rieken, Brenda (Eric) Johnson and Niki (Tim) Lill; brother, Ron (Melanie) Rieken and nieces and nephews.
