Barbara Walvatne

Barbara Lynn Walvatne, 59, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, March 2, 2012, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls. She was born on May 12, 1952, in Battle Lake, Minnesota, the daughter of Abner and Rosella (Pederson) Walvatne. She grew up in the area, graduating from Ashby High School in 1971. Barb did numerous babysitting jobs for her relatives, friends and neighbors. She also was a caregiver, helped to get meals together, and helped out on the farm. Caring for her mother was one of her most special jobs. Barb enjoyed baking, especially making chocolate chip cookies, lefse, and apple pies. She also enjoyed crafts, and doing word search puzzles. Spending time outdoors enjoying the fresh air and nature was where she could be found on most warm days, even during this past warm January. Preceding her in death were her dad, Abner, in 1970, her mom, Rosella, in 1994, and two brothers, Les in 2011, and Lyle in 1956. Survivors include her siblings: Allen Walvatne of Battle Lake, Mike (Renee) Walvatne of Ham Lake, MN, Jane (Chuck) Bohline of Fremont, NE, and Roger (Karen) Walvatne of Battle Lake; five nieces and nephews: Todd (Amy) of Omaha, NE, Chad (Terri) of Cedar, MN, Michelle of Ham Lake, Rochelle of Blaine, and Wade of Ham Lake; and numerous cousins. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church Memorial Service: 2 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012, at Zion-Sarpsborg Lutheran Church, Dalton Clergy: Reverend Mark Johnson Interment: Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Dalton Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
