Avis Eileen Bliss Ditterich Rohloff passed away peacefully on August 4, 2015, at the Pelican Valley Nursing Home.
Avis was born to Henry and Louise Bliss in rural Dent on July 22, 1921. Avis was one of seven children. She graduated from Perham High School in 1937. Avis married Andrew Ditterich in 1940 and they had six children. They were divorced in 1955. Avis married Roy Rohloff in 1959 and they had four children. Avis and Roy lived in rural Vergas and farmed until Roy’s death in 1986.
Avis was employed at Perham Memorial Hospital and Home as a dietetic technician for many years. She loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, picking berries, gardening, searching for morel mushrooms in the spring and catching snapping turtles. Avis made homemade wine, and loved baking and canning. For many years, she sold her homemade pies, jams and pickles at the Pelican Farmers market. Avis also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, puzzles and playing Scrabble. Avis enjoyed bowling and loved to play bingo and trips to various casinos. Avis’s love of travel took her from coast to coast.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Louise; her husband, Roy; a daughter, Karen Barnharst; two brothers, Floyd and Norman Bliss; and three sisters, Eileen, Elaine and Frances Bliss.
Avis is survived by her children, Marie Butz of Brookfield, WI, Luann (Donald) Bertolino of Appletown, WI, Linda (Kim) Henderson of Moorhead, Henry (Mary) Ditterich of Vergas, Paul (Vicki) Ditterich of Willmar, Larry Rohloff of Fergus Falls, Charles Rohloff of Vergas, Eileen (John) Clifford of Westtown, NY and Brian Rohloff of Vergas; eighteen grandchildren; seventeen great –grandchildren; and a sister, Harriet Carsella of Tinely Park, IL.

Avis was cremated so family and friends will gather for a grave side service under the Direction of Pastor Hinckley at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Thursday, August 27 at 11:00 AM in Dent, MN.
