Avery Davenport Jr., 92, a resident of Fergus Falls, died peacefully at home, Tuesday, August 4th, 2015. He was born April 25th, 1923 in Western Township, the son of Alice and Avery Erwin Davenport.
In 1944, he married Margaret A. Vore at the Federated Church in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Avery and Margaret purchased a farmstead north of Fergus Falls where he dedicatedly worked and never missed a day of milking. Avery spent his life caring greatly for his children and grandchildren. He took great joy in getting a new picture of a child, grandchild, great-grandchild or great-great-grandchild, which was then placed on top of the layers of photographs on his refrigerator. Strong magnets were necessary.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Margaret, beloved son, Jon; his mother, Alice, his father, Avery, four sisters, and one brother.
Survivors include his four daughters, Sherry Leabo, Susan Woessner, and Wendy (Tony Kimball) Davenport Kimball, all of Fergus Falls, and Lisa Davenport of Hopkins; grandchildren, Kim (Steve) Hess, Tad Woessner, Tara (Brent) Barry, Brett (Carolyn) Haus, Luke (Rebecca) Donley, Katriana Davenport-Kimball, Jodi Haus, Shawna Shale, Melissa (Mike) Justice, Jessica Umlauf, and Abby Tweed; 24 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and his sister, Patricia (Meryl) Messer.
Avery (Papa) will be greatly missed and his kind heartedness never forgotten.
