Audrey Lois Young, a longtime resident of Fergus Falls, passed away at GoldenRidge Senior Care in Alexandria, March 17, 2014, at the age of 87, surrounded by her loving family and caregivers.
Audrey, daughter of Arthur and Evelyn (Peterson) Erickson, was born on September 5, 1926 in Pelican Rapids. She was one of two children. She was confirmed in the Pelican Valley Church and graduated from the Pelican Rapids High School.
She married Robert Young of Foxhome, on December 1, 1946, in Foxhome. Three daughters were born to this union. They moved to Fergus Falls, where she worked for O’Meara’s Department Store and Dailey’s Shoe Store. She was the “Fergus Falls Hostess Service”, welcoming new people to Fergus Falls. She retired from a career in real estate.
Audrey was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved cooking and entertaining family and friends at their summer cabin on Swan Lake. Everyone will remember her for her special love of flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert.
Audrey is survived by three daughters, Virginia (John) Westby of Dalton, Sharon (Verl) Charboneau of Alexandria and Cynthia (Rodger) Shaver of Eagle, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles (Pat) Erickson; two brother-in-laws, Duane Young and Earl (Joanne) Young.
