Arvin Ernest Kort

Arvin E. Kort, 86, a resident of rural Fergus Falls, died Thursday, December 20, 2018, at his home under the care of hospice.

Arvin Ernest Kort was born May 23, 1932, in Fergus Falls to Ernest and Clara (Bremer) Kort. He attended country school District #1496.

On November 7, 1953, he was united in marriage to Geraldine Miller at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. They recently celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary. Arvin and Gerry dairy and grain farmed on the family homestead. Arvin was still farming until the time of his death with special friend and neighbor, David Holt.

Arvin was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Elizabeth and served on the church council. In later years, Arvin and Gerry became members of Augustana Lutheran Church, Elizabeth. He also served on the Elizabeth Creamery Board.

Arvin enjoyed his time spent at Jewett Lake with his children, grandchildren and in later years his great-grandchildren. Arvin enjoyed his early morning coffee with his friends at Elizabeth Gas Station. Arvin enjoyed dancing, bowling, snowmobiling, playing cards, going out for supper Friday nights with neighbors, talking on the telephone with friends and visiting with friends that stopped by. Arvin enjoyed going on his four-wheeler for drives around the farm.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Clara Kort; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Helen Miller; great-grandson, Parker Kort and sister, Lorraine

Arvin is survived by his wife, Geraldine, of 65 years; children, Cheri (Chuck) Sherbrooke of Battle Lake, Patty (Larry) Schneeberger of Elbow Lake, James Kort of Fergus Falls and Julie Springer of Fergus Falls; grandchildren, Trevor Schneeberger (Susan Wellendorf), Dustin (Iris) Schneeberger, Jordan Schneeberger (Amy Erbes), Daniel (Tanya) Kort, Malerie Kort, Andrea (Joe) Ouren, Abby Springer (Paul Kowalski); great-grandchildren, Easton, Brennan and Becker Kort, Wessen Schneeberger, Lane Coleman, Harper and Logan Ouren; sister, LaVerne Wigdahl; friend and neighbors, David (Lori) Holt; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls with a public prayer service at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
