Arthur Kolle

Arthur Edwin “Art” Kolle, 78, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at his home. He was born February 26, 1931, in Viding Township of Clay County, near Felton, Minnesota, the son of Ferdinand and Mabel (Horn) Kolle. He grew up on the family farm near Felton. He graduated from the Northwest School of Agriculture in 1947 and Felton High School in 1948.  On November 28, 1950, he enlisted in the U. S. Army, serving in the Korean War from 1951 to 1952, receiving numerous medals and honors, and then as a Military Prison Guard in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, until his discharge on November 27, 1953. He returned home to Felton, and then attended North Dakota State School of Science, graduating in 1956. On February 22, 1957, he married Donna Mae Kapfer at Mayville Lutheran Church in Mayville, North Dakota. They resided in Fergus Falls where he was employed by Otter Tail Power Company. They were transferred to Crookston in 1964 and then back to Fergus Falls in 1970.  He was the Supervisor of Energy, Management, and Control, retiring in 1993. He was an active member of Fergus Falls Trinity Lutheran School and Church, participating in Crossways and the morning bible class, and serving as an usher and council member. He was also a member of VFW Post 612, the Fergus Falls Rifle & Pistol Club Inc., MN State Spartan Boosters, and the Korean War Veterans Association Inc. Art enjoyed gardening, woodworking, hunting, fishing, travel, photography, watching any and all sports, and especially grandparenting and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Preceding him in death were his parents, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mona and Francis Kapfer. Survivors include his wife, Donna Kolle of Fergus Falls; his children: Cameron (Jo Nell) Kolle of Dyersville, Iowa, Bruce (Gail) Kolle of Fergus Falls, and Scott (Stacy) Kolle of Fergus Falls; ten grandchildren: Christopher (fiancèe Melissa), Stephanie (Josh), Allison (Chris), Andrew, Markie (fiancè Eli), Samuel, Daniel, Maggie, Chase, and Elias; five great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Isaac, Ethan, Adam, and Charlee; his siblings: Walter Kolle, Borup, MN, Veryle (Robert) McCulloch, Thunder Bay, Ontario, David Kolle, Dilworth, MN, Wanda (Francis) Mills, St. Petersburg, FL, Ernest (Ardelle) Kolle, Moorhead, MN, Violet (Gary) Abraham, West Fargo, ND, Maysie (Brent) Aarestad, West Fargo, ND, and Linda Lange, Rosemount, MN; a lifelong family friend, Wesley (Joyce) Kube, Richville, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
