Arthur A. Fladhammer

July 21, 1920 — October 8, 2015

Arthur Albin Fladhammer, 95, a resident of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, October 08, 2015, at the Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls.

Arthur was born on July 21, 1920, to Christ and Anna (Versdahl) Fladhammer, in Sheldon, ND. He attended school in Sheldon, ND and Erskine, MN. At the age of nine, he moved to rural Erskine with his family. Arthur was enlisted in the United States Army from 1942-1945, during which he served in World War II and the European Theater and received many medals for his service.

On April 14, 1951, he was married to Delores C. Hanson in Fergus Falls. He was employed as a carpenter for Moen Construction, Fergus Lumber and Fuel and worked for Vernon Jensen. After retirement, he worked part-time at The Lumber and Millwork Barn. He also built four houses for his family and completed countless building projects for others.

Arthur was a member of Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, American Legion Post 489 of Underwood and V.F.W. Post 612 in Fergus Falls. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, woodcrafts and building things.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Christ and Anna; three brothers, Kenneth, Alvin and Harold; a sister, Myra Gulsvig; two brothers-in law, Arnold Gulsvig and Art Lee; a son-in-law, Larry Dick; a grandson, Joe Sampson; a great-grandson, Parker Randall Krog; a niece, Debbie Greendahl; and a nephew, Kenny Hanson.

Arthur is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Delores Fladhammer of Fergus Falls; his seven children, David Fladhammer of Fergus Falls, Susan Anderson of Wheaton, Linda (Jim) Gnahn of Fergus Falls, Julie (Stan) Johnson of Fergus Falls, Lori Dick of Englevale, ND, Kevin (Teresa) Fladhammer of Underwood and Sharon (Justin) Clack of Menahga; eighteen grandchildren, Randy (Steph) Krog, Ronnie (Erin) Krog, Ashley Anderson, Kaia Anderson, Jamie Anderson, Chris (Dana) Anderson, Angie Sampson, Megan Johnson, Missy Sampson, Ryan Johnson, Anthony Johnson, Alex Johnson, Jessie Fladhammer, Drew Fladhammer, Dylan Fladhammer, Justin Clack, Aaron Clack and Kalley Clack; seventeen great-grandchildren, Madison, Lincoln and Jackson Krog, Kinsley and Hudson Davis, Drake and Teagan Anderson, Skylar Anderson, Kylie and Ava Schultz, Andreya, Cyntreya, Darius, Chardanay and Alizeya Lockett, Orion Wingert and Meleah Wells; two sisters, Edna (Lawrence) Skiple and Helen Lee; three sisters-in-law, Corann Fladhammer, Alice Fladhammer and Gladys Fladhammer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arthur worked hard to provide for his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation: 5:00-7:00 on Monday, October 12, 2015, at the Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls

Military Participation: Fergus Falls American Legion Post #30 and V.F.W. Post #612
Interment: Knollwood Memorial Gardens in Fergus Falls
