Arthur "Art" Hoffman, 89, of Fergus Falls died November 29, 2018, at the Minnesota Veterans Home, Fergus Falls.
Arthur was born July 8, 1929, to Herman and Lena (Sandau) Hoffman in Vergas. He attended school in Vergas and graduated from Frazee High School in 1948. He worked various jobs including milk delivery, pickle field worker, railroad maintenance worker and a forest ranger in Fort Hood. On December 16, 1950, he married June Olson at Clara Lutheran Church in Comstock, MN.
During the Korean War he served two years in the Army at Fort Knox Kentucky. Upon his discharge, he attended barber school in St. Paul and worked for a barber in Perham for a year. He then owned and operated the Uptown Barber Shop in Fergus Falls for 42 years, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed his retirement in Yuma, AZ for 24 years.
He was a member of the American Legion, Fergus Falls Fish and Game Club, Fergus Falls Lions, Trinity Lutheran Church and served as an Elder and trustee.
Arthur was an avid hunter and went on multiple moose hunts. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and dancing.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Daryl; brother, Harold; sisters-in-law, Violet and Angie.
Arthur is survived by his wife, June Hoffman; children, David (Darial), and Donna (Jon) Hegstad; grandchildren, Carissa (Clinton) Wilkinson, Melissa (Tim) Moe, Ryan Schroeder, Katie (Ben) Widboom, Becca (Rob) Hansen, Mason (Jenna) Hegstad, Judd (Jessica) Heinzmann, Drew (Liz) Heinzmann; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Madison (Damar), Austin, Jacob, Alexi, Logan, Brandon, Clayton, Ty, Payton, Teagan, Owen, Jacob, Tyler, Alex, Savannah, Maverick, Gabriel, Conner, Ian, Logan, Miles, Maren, Hayes.
Visitation: 5:00 – 7:00 p.m Friday, December 7, 2018 at Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls and resuming one hour prior to the service at the church
Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls
